I participated in my first photo shoot this weekend at the Lake House, nestled in the The Marina at Cherry Creek State Park. It is Denver’s only beachfront venue that was recently honored with the title of one of the eleven most unique wedding venues in Colorado. HERE IS A SNEAK PEEK OF A FEW PHOTOS, stay tuned for more.
Sometimes photo shoots are called inspiration shoots. I have always been against them but I have a new opinion of them and here is the good and the bad that I discovered in doing the photo shoot.
Please check out our vendor list below and support them when possible as I saw everyone of them is deserving of our business.

PROS:
Pro: I loved the experience of working at a new venue that I had not worked at before.
Pro: I like the idea of pooling resources with many new vendors I have not worked with so we can see each others work. The day after the shoot I was able to recommend one of the vendors who has a home-based “Sweets Boutique” to a client who needed specialty cookie. I could do that because I saw her awesome cake and cookies she brought to the shoot.
Pro: My future daughter-in-law was the bride so it was awesome she did a “practice wedding” before her own wedding in November.
Pro: Having professional photos to use for marketing.
Pro: I love to help others succeed, and enjoyed being a leader to so many vendors that were interested in doing the shoot.

CONS:
Con: With 14 vendors in our shoot, it was a busy few hours and I didn’t have the time to talk with the vendors that came to the shoot.
Con: Having to pick-up and drop items back to some of the vendors.
Con: The expense in purchasing items to use for the shoot.
Con: This venue was awesome but we did photos inside, then on the beach, then the sailboat. I had one assistant with me but felt like I needed an assistant at each of the three areas to move things along faster. My error!
Con: As the event planner I coordinated all the logistics with 14 vendors. It takes a lot of time, emails, and phone calls. I had so many more ideas but the lack of time on “day of” prevented them from happening.

Would I do it another photo shoot? hmmmmmm…… maybe!
